Hi there, I just heard about this. I used to work with him at OSS. We were in different units but when our paths crossed from time to time, I always found him to be such a genuine and smart guy. And he was a real good guy. I'm sorry to hear this.

What can one say? Words fail. My deepest sympathy to Stephanie, Ella and Myah upon the death of Charles, husband and father. Also to the extended family and friends who have suffered this great loss of a son, brother, brother-in law, uncle, son-in law, neighbour, friend and co-worker. To the man we called Coach, You showed us what it took, you showed us how hard we had to work. You taught us a lot on the court, but there was more to you - a lot more. Ultimately, you taught us how to be men. Men who were disciplined, diligent, responsible, selfless, caring, hardworking, and loving. You weren't just a coach, you were a family man, a follower of The Lord, a role-model. You taught us selflessness. That's one word to describe you, selfless. You planted seeds; you did the Lords work while taking on a bunch of kids under your wing who just had hoop dreams. Let me tell you something, those kids were in for something more than just basketball. Charles, you lead by example. I've never met someone who was slow to anger like you. You bore what Colossians 3 describes, you clothed yourself with a compassionate heart, you always displayed kindness, you were extremely humble, you displayed meekness in your circumstance; you were guided by the spirit and accepted God's ability to direct your life. You were patient, forgiving, and "above all things", you displayed love. Charles, you were selfless and I thank God for everything you've done in my life.

I had the pleasure of working with Charles for almost 10 years. He was such a pro and everyone he worked with, teammates and clients, became a friend. Trips to Toronto felt less like business and more like an amazing reunion. I always just assumed we'd work together again. I'll miss his humor, his guidance and his friendship.

My sincere condolences to Gloria, Ian, Jennifer their families and to Charles’s Wife and daughters. I am a childhood friend of Charles growing up just down the country road in Corbyville. Although I have not seen Charles since our high school days the news of his passing was very difficult. We enjoyed a great childhood together playing many sports at our parents’ houses and later going to high school together. I was very happy to hear that he shared the passion of coaching our two favourite sports, basketball for him and hockey for me. We will miss Sir Charles greatly, he was a very special man. I have not known him long but Ive not met many more loving and generous with his time for the kids. It is with deep sadness to hear of the loss of Charles. Words cannot express how sorry I am. I last saw Charles in early April at the arena, he was upbeat and always a word about his girls. Stephanie, Ella and Myah in your father's world the sun rose and set on you all. He was so proud of all of you and his love was so evident with his smile when he spoke of you. It was a pleasure to coach Ringette with him and see his passion and care for youth. He would seek me out to find part time work for players on his basketball team, watching out for them.
