Obituary for John Micheal Weir

John Micheal Weir (August 8th, 1940)

John unexpectedly, but peacefully passed away at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in his 81st year.

Beloved and devoted husband of 56 years to Linda (nee Sharpe), forever her “Johnny Boy”.

Loving Father and “Pops” to Mike, Jeff (Colleen), Mark (Natalie).

Very proud Papa to Tyler, Joshua, and Nathan.

Now re-united with his parents Hugh and Veronica (Kelly), siblings Marie (Martin), Val, and Paul. Survived by his sister Joan (McCullagh) and brothers Joe and Dan.

Brother-in-law to Donna Jordan, Pat Murchie, Jim Sharpe (Karin) and Theresa Newell (John).

Remembered fondly by the Oliver family and his many nieces and nephews on all sides.

A friend and confidante, golf, and tennis partner to so many.

John was at the top of his game as a certified court reporter (Master Level) who was recognized in the legal community as one of the finest in the profession.

His fondness for making people laugh was evident through his telling of jokes, quick wit, and sometimes silly antics. A sought-after master of ceremonies on many occasions, he was always honoured to perform for family and friends.
John was always in his happy place being at the cottage where he could tend to his garden, play a round of golf, or just relax and take in the view.

You were a gift to us all who will always be cherished.
We know there will be a pint waiting for us when we meet again.
Interment of his ashes at St. Joseph’s Black River Cemetery, Ramara will take place on a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory to Sick Kids Foundation or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be most welcome.
