Obituary for Nicholas 'Nick' John Reid

Nicholas John (Nick) Reid passed away peacefully on March 17, 2021 with his partner and children at his side. Born in 1955, Nick is the middle child of Matt and Isabel Reid, and brother to Bill Reid and Heather Landry. Loving husband to Donna until her passing.
Nick has had a fulfilling career in the Canadian water and environmental sectors. As an executive and vice-president at the Ontario Clean Water Agency, Nick managed the day to day operations of the Region of Peel's main drinking water and wastewater plants. In addition, he led the agency's strategic partnership development initiatives. Most recently, Nick was the Executive Director of Ryerson Urban Water (RUW) at Ryerson University, where he championed the university's efforts to achieve healthy and sustainable urban water cycles through applied research, education and outreach, and supportive policy.
For many years, Nick shared his expertise and time volunteering for a number of non profit organizations. His volunteer activities involved the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council where he mentored highly skilled immigrants as they adapt to Canadian business practices. He served as a board member for Out of Bounds Grief Support, a local organization based in the Jane/Finch area focused on providing grief counselling support to families and communities affected by gun violence. Nick has also had a long standing involvement with the American Water Works Association, and is currently the President of the Ontario Water Works Association.
Nick is best known for his sense of humour, his unwaivering kindness, his guitar playing and love of the Beatles.
Nick leaves behind his children Graham, Carson, James (shared with Donna) and Jessica (shared with former wife Roneet) and his life partner Melinda. Nick will be sorely missed but always remembered.
