Obituary - Cord Kenneth Clemens
Born September 28, 1963, in Vancouver, B.C. and died peacefully, on March 6, 2020 at the age of 56. Cord was lovingly cared for by the team at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre for many months, and ultimately passed from this life, at North York General Hospital. Cord was surrounded through his final weeks by many family and friends telling beautiful stories about his life.

Cord’s life began in Vancouver, and he grew up in the towns of Gibsons and Surrey. His exceptional sports career began at the University of Victoria which led to Team Canada’s National basketball team. An overview of Cord’s basketball career can be found by using this url: https://tinyurl.com/r4lm3ju Cord eventually found himself in Toronto and the surrounding area, where he perfected his career as a High School teacher in the Catholic Board where he continued to bring out the sparkle in others.

Cord was charismatic, generous, funny and loving. His love of music and dancing skills were second only to his baritone singing. He loved technology (geek), his custom-made motorcycle, and traveling. He was generous with his time, his encouragement and his true love of inspiration. He showed constant patience with others and was motivating to so many of his students and friends.

With his win-win personality, Cord was an inspiring high school teacher, volunteer, volleyball coach and entrepreneur. But of all his achievements, his proudest was being a phenomenal father to Gradan. He was dedicated to his family, who he always put first, and who will continue to carry on his legacy in memories and their intentions: his son, Gradan, stepson, Finnegan, niece Sofia as well as Maureen and Mike, his girlfriend, Shannon and her children, Leah, Sophia and Matthew, as well as his siblings Chuck, Allana, and Scott. He is predeceased by his parents, Reg and Grace. There are so many other close friends that Cord considered part of his inner circle.

As per Cord’s request, there will be no funeral. Instead celebrations of life in many of the communities in which he was a presence will occur. In lieu of flowers, and to honour Cord’s wishes, please consider making a donation to the following GoFundMe: https://tinyurl.com/wktms2p page, for a future JV Catholic High School Scholarship.
