I am terribly sorry for your loss.  While we have never met, You and Rod may be surprised to know that are two of the kindest and generous people I have ever known.  Many years ago, you opened your Southhampton paradise to me and my husband.  Graham was ailing from cancer and things were difficult for us in so many ways.  Without ever meeting us, and on the word of your son Andy, you opened your doors, your home and your hearts to us. That week in Southhampton remains of the most wonderfully memorable times of my life.   Rod will certainly be missed by me!

He had an astonishing career, one highlight of which was defending little Walkerton during their water crisis. To me, it showed his strong community feeling (he loved Bruce County) and desire to serve the public interest. I am glad I told him that at the time. 			<description><![CDATA[I was saddened to hear of Rod's passing. Strangely enough I was very close to the Markham hospital at the time being in the GTA on business.
I will miss the man but more so I will miss the golfer. Over the many years that we both were members of the golf course I had the privilege to play with him many times, mostly in club championship events, and he was always a tough competitor. He was a former Club Champion.
When I was on the board of the golf course he would always contact me with opinions on how to help the club and give me input on what people he knew were thinking.
He was dedicated to the well being of our club and our members and he will be sorely missed.
I have always considered him a friend even when our opinions differed.

			<description><![CDATA[Mary Anne, Carolyn and family, Anne and I were very saddened to hear the news of Rod's passing. He was a very special person. I first met Rod early on in my summers in Southampton through my father-in-law, Bob Forsyth. Rod, Bob and I played in a scramble golf event at Saugeen and we won! It was a great day and from then on Rod and I shared that special experience. To say that, from the first time I met Rod, I was in awe of him would be an understatement. My mother-in-law, Nancy, would refer to Rod as my hero. "Saw your hero today", she would joke. I think it was warranted. I was young and starting out and here was Rod, a wildly successful lawyer, incredibly articulate, a superb public speaker AND he drove elegant cars, had a great cottage on the beach, and was member of a bunch of private clubs. He was a rock star and I wanted to be him. I would have been to embarrassed to share this with Rod, but I'm happy to let Mary Anne, Carolyn and all the family know my story. I am sure it is not the only one. Rod undoubtedly inspired a generation of people just in the honourable way he lived his life.
