Lambrini (Karanikola) Gaidatzis passed away peacefully at Scarborough General Hospital on November 23, 2018 in her 94th year. Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, on August 24, 1924, Lambrini was one of two children born to the late Athanasios and Zoe Karanikola. Lambrini was a warm-hearted, loving, and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who was adored by all who knew her.
Prior to moving to Canada with her family in 1963, Lambrini lived in Greece and Germany. Family and friends loved this gentle woman for her positive spirit, caring nature, and zest for life. She had a smile for everyone.
Lambrini was the beloved wife of the late John Gaidatzis. She is survived by her children, Presvitera Kostantina (Pater Vasilios) Maniotis, Zozo (Thomas) Laftsidis, Manolis (Helen) Gaidatsis and Athanasios Gaidatsis and her 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by the family of her late sister, Kaliopi Stavridis of Thessaloniki, Greece.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church at 1385 Warden Ave., Scarborough, M1R 2S3.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 26, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the Hellenic Home for the Aged, Scarborough Location, 2411 Lawrence Ave. E. Toronto, M1P 4X1 in memory of Lambrini Gaidatzis.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Chapel Ridge Funeral Home at 905-305-8508.
