Celebration of Life: Lascelles Antonio Birch

Toronto CANADA — Lascelles Antonio Birch
Lascelles Antonio Birch, 93, passed away peacefully at North York General hospital on April 13th, 2018 after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by family and friends.

Lascelles was affectionately known as “Pa”, “Papa”, “Uncle Lascelles”, “Grand Daddy”, and “Grandpa” to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; or simply as Mr. Birch to many others who have all been touched by his wit and intelligence, fantastic memory, kindness, and sense of humor.

Lascelles is the father of 8 children (7 of whom survive him): 6 Sons, and 2 Daughters; twelve grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He has been the father to daughters-in-law, friends, and many youngsters to whom he loved to share wisdom and understanding and spiritual encouragement. Anyone who knew him witnessed his love for his children and grandchildren and for countless others. He has been a legacy example of determination, persistence, and resilience in overcoming many life obstacles that came his way.

Lascelles Birch-- was born in Davis Town, Trelawny, Jamaica and moved to North York, Ontario in the in 1984 to join his family. On migrating to Canada he worked as a security guard for 10 years until his retirement. He attended The Peoples Church for the last 16 years, where his faith in the Lord Jesus matured and became alive. He was also an active member of the Jamaican Canadian Association until he became ill.

In his own right, he was a philanthropist who responded in important ways to help others with kindness and generosity, and contributed yearly to many organizations such as the HHRH Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association and to The Peoples Church

It was Lascelles wish for his body be interred in Jamaica. His funeral will be held on Saturday April 21st, 2018 at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham, Ontario L3R 5G1 from 1:00 to 4:00pm. Final interment will be at Dovecot Memorial Gardens St Catherines, Jamaica on Saturday May 5, 2018.
