DOUGLAS, Joan Carol (nee Hughes)

July 24, 1940 – February 13, 2017

Passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She is survived by her loving husband Jerry Douglas and her two daughters Lori (Lloyd MacLean) and Tracey (Chris White). Beloved Nana to Sydney and Sara and dear sister to Harry (Susan) and John. Sister-in-law of Marg (Martin), Barb and the late Jack, Alma (Ian), Paul (Helen), Walter (Shirley) and Ev. She will be fondly remembered by many special nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Joan was always very family oriented, if it was a family dinner or hanging by the pool with her granddaughters, family meant everything to her. She also enjoyed laugh filled outings with close friends, and will be remembered as a warm and wonderful person. She will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, February 24th, 2017 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Swan Lake Community Centre in the “Swan Club" (100 Lakeside Vista Way, Markham, ON L6E 0B9)

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
